Into every child\u2019s life must come a first pet<\/p>\n
To care for, love and cherish and yet<\/p>\n
There comes a day you know they\u2019ll regret<\/p>\n
A day that will make you so very upset.<\/p>\n

For no matter how much you love them to death<\/p>\n
They don\u2019t live forever. They will take their last breath.<\/p>\n
To a child this loss is a whole new feeling<\/p>\n
That makes them cry and sends them reeling.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s so hard to make them understand it\u2019s okay<\/p>\n
To grieve their loss in their own special way.<\/p>\n
To them it\u2019s a pain they have never had<\/p>\n
It makes them confused and so very sad.<\/p>\n

We all go through it and we remember the pain<\/p>\n
Our first thought is we\u2019ll never have pets again.<\/p>\n
But time heals all wounds and we soon recover<\/p>\n
We learn that to go on we\u2019ll soon have another.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Millions of pets go unwanted every day<\/p>\n
Unloved and put down in such a cruel way<\/p>\n
But you gave life to one so special to you<\/p>\n
She knows that it was the right thing to do.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
She wants you to remember all the good times you had<\/p>\n
And not to dwell on her passing and be so sad.<\/p>\n
Think of all the fun and joy she gave to you.<\/p>\n
Smile when you remember her and don\u2019t be blue.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
To keep her alive in pain would be cruel<\/p>\n
Think only good thoughts of your friend, Jewl.<\/p>\n
In the days ahead you\u2019ll miss her so bad<\/p>\n
But remember she doesn\u2019t want to make you sad.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
She\u2019s in a better place, free from pain<\/p>\n
And she\u2019ll want you to love another again.<\/p>\n
More little joys like her will come your way<\/p>\n
To fill your heart with joy. You\u2019ll be okay.<\/p>\n
